Family Records

As a special project, the Sherman County Historical Society is assembling material for a collection of Family Heritage. Sherman County residents, both former and present, are invited to assemble and file histories and record sheets. If your information has been compiled we will be happy to add it to our files or shelves. If special forms would make the assembly more convenient for you, special sheets are available.

Suggestions for family sheets and stories:

1. Type if possible, or use black permanent ink if report is written.

2. Complete a family record sheet for yourself and for each generation of ancestors as far back as can be verified. ( These sheets should not stop with the first Sherman County resident, but should include earlier ancestors).

For example: Complete a sheet for each of the following:
          a. John Smith and Anna Brown (yourself and spouse)
          b. John’s father and mother
          c. Anna’s father and mother
          d. John’s grandparents (maternal and paternal)
          e. Anna’s grandparents (maternal and paternal)

3. For genealogical records list all dates in this order:
Day Month Year   23 January 1997, write complete dates

4. If there is not sufficient room provided for listing children,

Please complete on an 8 1/2 x 11 sheet and mail to:

          Sherman County Historical Society
          PO Box 684
          Goodland, KS 67735

     a. When and where settled
     b. Itinerary to this area

c. Location and structure of home
