HISTORY
The Sherman County Community Foundation was incorporated in 2002 as a tax
exempt public charity. Initially, the vision of individuals pursing this goal
dreamed of an organization with board representation of every local group of
stakeholders with a large enough asset base to support all non-profit
organizations and human services in Sherman County.
While this was an admirable aim, the board of directors looked to other
communities for guidance and inspiration. Seeing the community foundation as an
excellent model, the board was reorganized and reenergized to create a vehicle
for philanthropy and to benefit local interests. The result is a nine-member
board that meets monthly to conduct business.
